mannskap_hjerteEl Capitan!

The boss aboard.  A 49 year Norwegian guy which really enjoys being on sea as long as his mobile is right next to him. He`s a busy guy and has always lots of things going on. He`s stabile and determined, and sees possibilities where others resign.
He`s a disaster in the kitchen, but is really good in inspiring the cook. He is remarried with Tone, and has 2 grown up kids.

The Cook and the Blog master!

Where Geirr is serious, Tone is the opposite. Norwegian as well, 44 years old. The chick is “high and low” and needs her Capitan to get a kind of contact with reality. Morning bird A+, and needs total peace and harmony the 30 first minutes out of bed to be able to think all her important thoughts! Super happy to be in the kitchen, passion for food and have the worlds biggest sweet tooth. Remarried with Geirr, and has 2 not fully grown ups.

For those of you who don’t know us, I can tell that we are Norwegian climate refugees who have been living in Norway for over 40 years.

When 3 of 4 children decided to move out, we wanted to make a change in our daily life, with the result of buying a house and settle down in one of the 7 Canarian Islands, Gran Canary. There where several reasons making the choice we did, but I think we had been lying if we didn’t admit that sun and the warm weather in general played an important role to make the decision moving to this exact place.

We have been living here for about 3 years now, while the youngest one has attended the Norwegian School at the Island. We haven’t regret for one single second that we moved from Norway, and we enjoy both sun and the Spanish people!

There’s not for everyone to move their total daily life in the same way as we did, but since Geirr and I can work from almost everywhere in the world as long as we have access to a telephone line so we can use both mobile and our laptops, it’s not a problem.
Actually we are not the only one living on this Island doing it the same way as us, there are more people living like this that you would think.

The biggest difference by living in this almost sub tropical climate is the feeling of living, compared to the feeling of just existing.
We are spending most of the days outside; it feels like we almost live outside. All our meals we eat outside, it is very seldom we have to eat inside due to bad weather!

The outdoor kitchen is worth its weight in gold, and the word BBQ has got a whole new meaning to us, just like the red wine…
The Spanish people are great making excellent wines, especially the red ones. With a mix of the fantastic climate on the Spanish main land, added with a dash of Spanish passion, the bottles almost pops up with the most fantastic red wines.

If you ask me I think much of the French wines are very bragged about. Sorry, I just needed to say it!
